An Open Mind is Easily Overthrown

Of all the institutions of the Imperium, there is none more feared than the Holy Ordos of The Inquisition. Its Inquisitors are beyond the reach of any law, acting with the authority of the Emperor Himself. They are a shadow army engaged in a secret war, pledged to defend the ignorant masses from vile heretics, foul xenos, and loathsome daemons. An Inquisitor's authority is without limit, checked only by the judgement of their peers and whatever scruples or conscience they have yet to cast aside. This far-flung cabal of ruthless, driven, and indomitable souls are driven by widely varied philosophies, united only in the knowledge that they are the last line of defence between Humanity and the abyss. Theirs is a duty so absolute in its necessity that even their worst excesses are hidden, for they are accountable to none but themselves. To aid them in this monumental task, Inquisitors gather a handful of trusted agents. Some are blunt instruments of devastation, others subtle exactors of silent death or scholars of forsaken lore. All stand on the precipice of damnation, for to make war upon the hidden rot at the heart of the Imperium is to invite it into one’s own soul.

Cubicle 7 has deemed the time has come for you to learn the darkest secrets of this dread organisation, or at least enough of them to damn your Character forever, as you may well be working for them. Coming soon is a pair of secret-filled tomes detailing these agents of the Imperium and the perils they face that together offer a whole new way to play Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay Imperium Maledictum. The Inquisition Guides let you create an entire band of Inquisitorial acolytes from Imperium Maledictum’s setting, the Macharian Sector, in order to lead deadly and twisted investigations into blasphemous cults, depraved xenos, and daemonic incursions. With the Imperium Maledictum Core Book and the Inquisition Guides, you will have everything you need to build, run, and play long-term Inquisitorial campaigns.

The first tome is the Inquisition Player’s Guide, which holds a full new set of rules and guidelines for creating Inquisitor Patrons, with expanded options beyond those originally presented in the Imperium Maledictum Core Book including adding members of the legendary Ordo Malleus – the stern daemon hunters of the Inquisition. It also contains everything Players and GMs need to create fresh new acolytes, or improve older ones, with plenty of new possibilities including new Origins and new Roles befitting those that directly serve the Inquisition. An expanded Inquisition Armoury provides new gear and new weapons, which might help your acolytes survive a bit longer in the shadows. This book is perfect for creating awesome Inquisition characters, regardless of the focus of your Imperium Maledictum campaigns.

The Inquisition Player’s Guide introduces Familiars for the first time to Imperium Maledictum games. Familiars range from rare trustworthy xenos beasts, to semi-mechanical Cyber creatures, to strange Psyber Familiars who may have otherworldly powers. If you have ever wanted to order heretics torn apart by a loyal augmented canid or creep out your adversaries with an eerie flying Cherubim with a vox-grill for a mouth, now’s your chance!

Lastly, the Inquisition Player’s Guide introduces a new game mechanic: Subtlety. This mechanic tracks how Characters operate and pursue their investigations within the Macharian Sector. Some targets go to ground when the Inquisition shows its hand, making discovering what they were up to more difficult if not impossible – others panic and reveal themselves. Subtlety can grant bonuses, or penalties, depending on the Characters’ actions and what they hoped to achieve.

The second tome is the Inquisition GM’s Guide, the essential book on running Inquisition themed adventures and campaigns within Imperium Maledictum. It discusses the philosophies and beliefs that drive different Inquisitors, as well as the greatly varied interpretations of what it means to be a Puritan or Radical, and how those things will affect the sorts of missions they give their acolytes. There are sections of advice on how to run investigative adventures and the price one pays for knowing forbidden lore. Herein you will find the rules for possession by warp entities and the dark knowledge of how to create and bind terrifying daemonhosts – or survive a fight with one.

The Inquisition GM’s Guide devotes several chapters to the useful Contacts one may meet and diverse Sector Threats one may face, within the Macharian Sector. There are also Open Case Files that can be plugged into any campaign. The heart of the book is the decades spanning Heresies Macharia Campaign, which features a series of Inquisition Conclaves that slowly uncover insidious sector-spanning plots which threaten to once again plunge the Macharian Sector into darkness. To help run the campaign are detailed files concerning the most prominent Inquisitors operating within the sector, along with comprehensive notes on how to roleplay them and their potential reactions to the Characters’ choices.

Finally, the Inquisition GM’s Guide contains a Bestiary, describing a few choice threats that Characters may be unfortunate enough to encounter during the time, however brief it may be, that they work for the Inquisition.

These books are stunning, resembling the kind of tome found on the shelves of certain Inquisitors and a true must have for any Warhammer 40,000 collector or dedicated Imperium Maledictum fan.

Remember always that a mind without purpose will wander in dark places. Resolve yourself then, to play within, or dare to run, an Imperium Maledictum Inquisition Campaign.
