"I would not lead you into Moria if there were no hope of coming out again. If there are Orcs there, it may prove ill for us, that is true. But most of the Orcs of the Misty Mountains were scattered or destroyed in the Battle of Five Armies. The Eagles report that Orcs are gathering again from afar; but there is a hope that Moria is still free.

"There is even a chance that Dwarves are there, and that in some deep hall of his fathers, Balin son of Fundin may be found."

~ Gandalf, The Fellowship of the Ring ~

Long after he traveled with Thorin and Company to the Lonely Mountain, Balin listened to the secret whispers of wealth and splendor waiting to be reclaimed in Moria until, eventually, he was seduced by his dreams of the great Dwarven city and its veins of mithril. At first, all went well, and Balin and his fledgling colony of Dwarves and began great works there... but then the messages ceased. It has been years since Balin last sent word.

BoxKhazad-dûm, the first deluxe expansion for The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game, transports Middle-earth's heroes to the halls of Moria, where they begin their search for Balin and his Dwarven colony.

~ Drums in the Deep ~

Expanding your game with 165 new cards, Khazad-dûm leads deep into Moria and the new Dark locations beneath the Misty Mountains. From its rich artwork, to its scenarios and extensive encounter sets, Khazad-dûm evokes the menace and uncertainty of a long journey through the darkness of abandoned mines.

With only flickering torches to light their way, your heroes will face all-new threats from the expansion's nine encounter sets. Orcs lurk in untold numbers in the darkness, Cave-trolls plod through the tunnels, ready to swat aside weaker allies as they rush at the heroes, and a single wrong turn could lead your heroes to a crumbling staircase or an impassable chasm.

Your heroes may get lost in Moria's intertwined passageways, or they might come face-to-face with the nameless fear. The new encounter deck dynamics of Khazad-dûm push The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game in a fresh new direction. Goblin swarms. Labyrinthine tunnels. Cave-ins. Chance encounters.

~ Dwarven Heroes for Dwarven Ruins ~Cards 1

Two new Dwarf heroes offer to join your fellowship in Khazad-dûm, and you gain the benefit of new player cards (three copies of each) for each sphere of influence. Players will be able to run viable all-Dwarf strategies if they choose, as the mines of Moria will inspire Dwarves to redouble their willpower and accomplish greater feats of strength than ever before.

Cards like Khazâd! Khazâd! and Durin's Song turn your Dwarf heroes into subterranean killing machines. Meanwhile, a Zigil Miner accompanying your fellowship can search the tunnel walls for any trace of mithril or other ores. You can exhaust the Zigil Miner to name a number and discard the top two cards of your deck. If either card matches the number you named, you gain that many resources, providing you a valuable source of supplies as you head deeper into the mines!

Even if you're not running a strategy centered on Dwarf heroes, you'll find exciting new options for your decks in Khazad-dûm.

Cards 2~ Beyond the Doors of Moria ~

From spiders and Ringwraiths to Orcs and Trolls, Middle-earth is a rich and expansive world, filled with many iconic creatures. As you venture into the ancient Dwarven realm of Khazad-dûm, you'll enter a place in Middle-earth far removed from the settings and creatures represented by the Core Set encounter cards. Dark tunnels teem with goblins, and any wrong turn could send you plummeting through pits to find yourself confronted by older and fouler things than Orcs.

For this reason, the scenarios in Khazad-dûm all feature encounter decks built strictly from the expansion's nine all-new encounter sets (as instructed by the rules). It's also important to note that you will need these new encounter sets to play the scenarios of the subsequent Dwarrowdelf cycle of Adventure Packs.

While the Khazad-dûm expansion is an exciting addition in its own right, it is also a step forward in the game's engaging narrative. With it, you'll bring thrilling new regions to life and explore more of Middle-earth than ever before. From the forests of the Core Set and the Shadows of Mirkwood cycle, to the perilous caves and treacherous peaks of the Misty Mountains, The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game advances boldly forward through the doors of Khazad-dûm!
