Star Wars: Imperial Assault
by Fantasy Flight Games

Enter a galaxy far, far away in Imperial Assault, a tactical board game for two to five players!

Imperial Assault contains two complete games, each offering players a unique window into the Star Wars universe. In the campaign game, up to four players take on the roles of heroes of the Rebellion, attempting to uncover an Imperial plot to destroy the Rebellion. Opposing these heroes, one player commands the seemingly limitless Imperial forces and iconic villains like Darth Vader. Alongside the campaign game, Imperial Assault players can experience a skirmish game that challenges two players to muster strike teams of Rebels, Imperials, and Mercenaries and battle head-to-head over conflicting objectives. Both games within Imperial Assault offer unique tactical challenges set in the midst of the Galactic Civil War.

~ Tactical Battles in the Star Wars Universe ~

Both the campaign game and the skirmish game invite players to partake in dramatic missions. Players may find themselves recovering a critical Rebellion data core, working with Chewbacca to steal crates of lucrative spice, or escaping bounty hunters eager to collect the price on the players’ heads. Whether players struggle to avoid an enemy bombardment or break into a base with a hostage Imperial officer, every Imperial Assault mission brings players directly into the cinematic action of Star Wars. The boards for these missions are constructed using over fifty doublesided, interlocking map tiles that combine to construct a massive variety of Star Wars environments. Players may find themselves bushwhacking through the jungles of Yavin 4 or sneaking into a dusty cantina on Tatooine. Whether a player strides along the gleaming corridors of an Imperial base or infiltrates a hidden factory on Sullust, players must consider the terrain in every Imperial Assault mission.

~ Heroes & Villains ~

In the Imperial Assault campaign game, up to four players become heroes of the Rebellion, such as a smuggler, a Wookiee warrior, or a Force user, occasionally fighting alongside well-known characters like Han Solo and Luke Skywalker. As the campaign goes on, heroes gain experience and credits, which they can use to learn crucial new skills and to purchase new items and weapons. Whether players fight with E-11 blasters or vibroaxes, they’ll be able to personalize their equipment and gain new weapons as the campaign continues.

The vast resources and unlimited reserves of the Galactic Empire pose a constant obstacle to the Rebel heroes. In any campaign mission, one player deploys the Empire’s armies of stormtroopers, assault walkers, and mercenaries to put an end to any Rebel operations. Although the Rebel players may beat the Imperials back for a time, new squads of troopers never stop coming. The Imperial player accumulates threats at the end of each round, which he can use to bring new reinforcements into play, overwhelming the Rebels if they do not move quickly. In addition, only the Imperial player knows everything that lies in wait for the Rebel operatives throughout the campaign. Rebel prisoners may be locked behind a door, but only the Imperial player knows if they are unguarded or if the open door will reveal the ominous figure of Darth Vader.

~ Gather a Strike Team ~

The Imperial Assault skirmish game offers two players a distinct game experience in the Star Wars universe. While playing a skirmish mission, two players muster squads of soldiers, drawing on Imperial, Mercenary, or Rebel units and purchasing upgrade cards to improve their strike teams. Players also build decks of Command cards to give their warriors unexpected bonuses, allowing players to specialize their teams towards troopers, brawlers, hunters, or other options. In each skirmish mission, both players clash in a battle of tactical skill and combat. Players alternate activating a single deployment card and taking actions with those figures as they battle to complete conflicting objectives. Whether players compete to steal a valuable T-16 Skyhopper or to collect contraband on behalf of the Hutts, the Imperial Assault skirmish game offers tense tactical battles.

~ Ally & Villain Packs ~

As an added bonus for players, each Imperial Assault Core Set includes the Luke Skywalker Ally Pack and the Darth Vader Villain Pack. These figure packs each include a detailed plastic figure, as well as new missions for the skirmish and campaign games that highlight Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. Additional figure packs will be released for Imperial Assault after the release of the Core Set.

Players step forward to take their place in the Galactic Empire or the Rebel Alliance with Imperial Assault. Whether they experience the campaign game or the skirmish game, Imperial Assault is their chance to enter the classic Star Wars saga!
