GTM #198 - Marvel HeroClix: Superior Foes of Spider-Man - Spider-Verse Chase Figures
by WizKids/NECA

The Spider-Verse invades HeroClix! This summer, Spider-Man is swinging back into HeroClix with Marvel HeroClix: Superior Foes of Spider-Man! This 5-figure booster release focuses on lots of Spider-Friends and adds plenty of Spider-Villains, new and old, to HeroClix. One of the main themes of this set features Spider-Man’s allies from his battle against Morlun in the Spider-Verse storyline. Today, we are showing off two of the Chase figures from the Spider-Verse theme!

First up, we have Spider-Man Noir! He comes in at 75 points with standard combat symbols. With his special movement ability Lurking in the Shadows, he can use Leap/Climb, Sidestep, and Stealth, which allows him to sneak around and wait for his opportunity to strike! He also has access to some useful offensive powers in Smoke Cloud, Outwit, and Ranged Combat Expert throughout his dial. For defense, he starts off with a solid 18 defense value with Super Senses, and switches off to Combat Reflexes mid-dial if he gets into a close combat situation. He is a Wildcard, has 6 range, and has Improved Targeting: May make a range attack while adjacent to an opposing character, to handle himself in both close and ranged situations.

Spider-Man Noir also has two traits shared by many of the “Spider” characters in the set, Spider’s Web and Call in Help from the Spider-Verse! Spider’s Web makes use of the Web FX base that comes with all of the chases in this set, and attaches to a character that Spider-Man Noir hits. Then, the character it is attached to must attempt to break away when moving and can’t automatically break away. Additionally, other characters don’t have to break away from the character with the Web marker. And Call In Help From the Spider-Verse can potentially bring in another Spider-Man Family character to Spider-Man Noir’s side if he needs further assistance in combat. Wrapping up, Spider-Man Noir has the Spider-Man Family, Detective, and Mystical keywords for themed team building.

Next up, we have Old Man Spider! This alternate-earth version of long-time Spider-Ally, Ezekiel Sims, is a great team player in addition to holding his own in battle. Wall-crawling in at 75 points, Old Man Spider has the standard movement, attack, and damage symbols in addition to the Indomitable defense symbol for Willpower. His special movement ability Recruiter of the Spider-Verse, gives him great options to position with Phasing/Teleport, Sidestep, Stealth, and the Carry ability. This special power also allows him to carry up to four characters into the fight if they all have the Spider-Man Family Keyword!

For offense, Old Man Spider starts off with Exploit Weakness to deal with damage reducers, along with Precision Strike and Outwit later in his dial. He has Toughness and Super Senses for defense, a Wildcard team ability, and a useful 4 range. All in all, Old Man Spider is helpful to any Spider-Man Family team for support with his excellent mobility and extra attacking once everyone is in place. He also has the two shared traits in Spider’s Web for his Web FX base and Call in Help from the Spider-Verse for some extra tricks with the Spider-Man Family.
